What is the Continuing Coverage Option in HealthCare4ChildCare?

OSSE licensed child development facilities that provide coverage to employees in 2022 can qualify for HealthCare4ChildCare discount for health insurance premiums for all their employees – employees who are DC residents and non-DC residents. The employer's current coverage must be equivalent to platinum (e.g., no deductibles), gold (e.g., low deductibles) or silver (e.g., deductibles ranging $3,000 - $4,500) coverage to qualify.

Why should I enroll in the Continuing Coverage Option in HealthCare4ChildCare?
It SAVES you and your employees money!

  • Helps you offset rising health coverage costs. (Health insurance premiums spiked for 2023.)
  • You and your employees will save thousands of dollars on health insurance premiums.
  • You’ll receive $277.06 a month towards health insurance premiums for every 30-year-old who enrolls, for example. (The older the employee, the higher the monthly discount you’ll receive on premiums.)

For example: With HC4CC discount, a zero deductible PPO from CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield would cost $0 for a 30-year old employee and $352.68/month to the employer. The employer saves $119.63/month and the employee saves $157.43/month. Here is how:

Do I have to change the coverage I offer?

Yes, you would need to enroll in comparable coverage on DC Health Link. If you already offer all plans on DC Health Link silver, gold or platinum level, you do not need to change.

How much of my time and effort is this going to take?

DC Health Link will work with your broker. If you prefer, we’ll work with you directly. You’ll need to provide us with an employee roster and information about your current plan so we can match to an identical or similar plan on DC Health Link. We’ll take it from there and provide expert help at every step of enrollment.
