Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I buy coverage if I and my family don't qualify for help paying for health coverage?

Even if you do not qualify for help paying for health coverage, you may still be able to buy a plan without that help. The only qualifications are that you are a U.S. Citizen, or are otherwise legally present, you live in the District of Columbia, and you are not serving a prison or jail sentence.

Because the prices of the DC Health Link plans will be publicly posted for all to see, insurance companies will have to compete for your business based on price and quality. If you don't like the price being charged for one plan, you can choose another, knowing the basic benefits will be the same.

You can check to see if you qualify to buy a plan on DC Health Link and if you are eligible for financial assistance by filling out the DC Health Link application.

If you are sure you do not want to check to see if you are eligible for financial assistance, you can see if you qualify to buy a plan on DC Health Link by filling out the DC Health Link application for health coverage without financial assistance.
