In partnership with the Mayor’s Office on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning Affairs (MOLGBTQA), DC Health Link will host a town hall conversation, “Get Health Smart: Now that You’re Covered, Make Your Health Insurance Work for You.” Specifically geared to members of the DC LGBTQ community, this virtual session will share information about the values of health insurance and how to take full advantage of benefits offered from your coverage. The complexity of health insurance choices can be overwhelming to many consumers. The need to understand health plan features is essential because health insurance coverage impacts access to health care services. This town hall conversation will also focus on what consumers need to know to choose plans that work best for them and their families. Attendees will be guided through Smart Actions to take with health insurance. Through cases relevant to the LGBTQ community, participants will develop a greater understanding on how to use health coverage, manage health care expenses and the tools to use to make informed decisions. A DC Health Link representative will share important information about the ACA essential benefits offered in all DC Health Link health plans, the American Rescue Plan lower premiums in 2022, the advantages of standard plan options, the values of business owners offering health coverage to secure and retain employees, the need to no longer delay in getting needed the health care and how residents can still enroll through the special enrollment periods and at the One Touch Enrollment events.
