Your monthly premiums are due to your health or dental insurance company on the date listed on your invoice and/or in the electronic account you may have set up through your insurance company’s website. If you have any questions about your due dates, you must contact your health or dental company directly for specific information. Be sure to ask whether you have any outstanding bills or monthly premiums to pay, or whether you are up to date on your account. Sometimes consumers can fall behind when paying their monthly premiums because they think they are paying for the next month’s coverage but are actually paying late for the previous month’s coverage. This can result in being cancelled or terminated from your coverage due to a late payment. Checking in with your health or dental insurer will help you ensure that you fully understand what you may owe and when your payments are due. If you are cancelled or terminated from your coverage for paying late, you will not be able to re-gain coverage until the following year. DC Health Link has contact information for all of the health and dental companies.
