What is Modified Adjusted Gross Income?

Modified Adjusted Gross Income (or MAGI) is the way your income is calculated to see whether or not you qualify for Medicaid or a premium tax credit. For most people, MAGI is your Adjusted Gross Income (as calculated when you file your taxes) plus any non-taxable Social Security benefits, tax-exempt interest, and foreign income.
